The sworn statement from the woman who reported Woodhead to police reads: “When I opened the door to the living room, he was laying on the floor, pacing with a hatchet in his hand. There was blood on the doors and walls, a hatchet on the floor and a shard of broken mirror in his hand.”

Woodhead admitted to doing the crime, but said he was under the influence of cocaine at the time. He also claimed he was suffering from mental illness. At the parole hearing, he told Parole Hearing Officer Jan Hibler that he has ADHD and has completed treatment at Valley Mental Health which is outside prison confines. He was given a minimum sentence of 6 years to life on the attempted aggravated murder and aggravated arson convictions and an indeterminate term for disarming a police officer.
